I became interested in the Brussels Griffons in the mid 1980's, while living in Alaska.

I was showing Shih Tzus at the time, working for the Alaska Railroad, plus a family to care for. I realized I was just 'burnt out' on long show coat care, & decided to look into some other breeds that were less coat intense...Little did I know!

I had always been interested in the 'unusual' type , so there were several Breeds that I researched, finally settling on the funny looking little dog they called the Brussels Griffon. I bought my first Griffon from a reputable breeder in Portland Oregon, she was a Red Rough, named Wee Ones Gingersnap. Needless to say, she was not my last!

Having had Shih Tzu's in show coat, it took me months to finally decide that if I was to have this breed, I had better learn to strip & groom. After crying over every lost hair on a Shih Tzu, it was difficult for me to pull the hair out. It took me several months to overcome this fear. Now, I find that grooming, or keeping a rough in show coat, is actually relaxing for me.

CodeBecause my husband's (of 50+ years) name is Jim, I settled on the 'Kennel name' of JIMIJO...combining both our names. Jim has become almost as knowledgeable about the breed as me. I often hear him telling people 'what they are', when we are traveling in the motorhome. This is good!!

We are privileged to be owned by these impish little guys.

Welcome to our site.  We hope you enjoy our Griffs as much as we do.
